Identification

What is identification?

Identification is the process by which a user is associated with a unique and distinctive set of credentials, such as their username, email address, or identification number. It consists of determining who or what is involved and distinguishing it from other entities.

This step allows for the precise differentiation of each user within a system or IT environment.

Identification ensures the uniqueness and specificity of the identities assigned, forming the essential basis for authentication and authorization mechanisms.
