User directories

What are user directories?

A user directory is a database or a centralized management system that groups and stores information about users of a specific network, organization, or service.

This is a database that stores and organizes information related to identities, such as:

  • usernames,
  • passwords,
  • roles,
  • email addresses,
  • phone numbers
  • Access permissions

Directories are used to centralize identity and access management within companies to facilitate the creation, modification, and deletion of user accounts, as well as the management of permissions and personal information.
