What are user directories?

A user directory is a database or centralized management system that groups and stores information about the users of a specific network, organization or department.

This is a database that stores and organizes identity-related information, such as :

  • user names,
  • passwords,
  • roles,
  • e-mail addresses,
  • telephone numbers
  • access authorizations

Directories are used to centralize identity and access management within companies, facilitating the creation, modification and deletion of user accounts, as well as the management of authorizations and personal information.
