OpenLDAP is an open-source directory service maintained by the OpenLDAP Project community. It centralizes the accounts, groups, and authentication information used by numerous internal applications, Linux servers, network tools, and email systems. It is most commonly found in IT departments that prioritize open-source solutions, educational and research institutions, local governments, and industrial companies with an in-house infrastructure.

The connector imports all accounts from the directory into Youzer: username, last name, first name, email address, groups, and account status. Each account is linked to the corresponding employee, which makes it possible to immediately identify orphaned accounts or those belonging to people who have left the company.
The connector is based on the Universal Connector: accounts are created, modified, deactivated, and deleted using scripts configured during setup, based on the structure of your directory.

Since the directory is typically hosted on your premises, the connection relies on the Youzer agent installed on your network: it communicates only outbound, so there is no need to open your directory to the outside world. You provide a service account with the appropriate permissions for the directory branch to be managed. Synchronization then occurs automatically and regularly.
