Dstny is a major player in enterprise communications (VoIP, mobile, data, cloud, security). Dstny provides high-performance, reliable and secure unified communications solutions for businesses.
💡 Dstny has acquired several French structures, including OpenIP. At Youzer, we started working with the OpenIP group, then when the merger took place, we integrated all the French subsidiaries of the Dstny group.
Dstny in figures:
- 3 million users,
- 1,000 employees, including 200 in France,
- present in 7 countries.
Their need:
Structuring the process of arrivals and departures in a company where everything was done by hand. The merger with Dstny reinforced the need for a professional tool.
"We were beginning to need to frame the need to monitor internal tools, in particular to ensure that accesses were properly deleted when employees left, which hadn't been sufficiently monitored until then and which presented a security risk. We weren't serene about what could happen."
Tristana Viana, Operations Manager
What was the problem at Dstny?
OpenIP is a company that has grown and needed to structure itself. In a company where everything was done by hand and no one was really empowered to manage user lifecycles, IT had to be structured. It was at this point that the need for a solution to clarify user accounts was identified as a priority.
OpenIP set up an IT team and then equipped itself with Youzer as its IAM solution.
Following the merger, a group ICT (Information Communication Technology) team was set up to centralize all IT matters for subsidiaries in all European countries.
The aim was to harmonize requirements across Europe by establishing a coherent, uniform approach, with standardized procedures, processes and tools. However, in parallel with European standardization, Dstny needed to retain an operation associated with tools used only in France.
This meant integrating employees from the three French entities into the Youzer tool already in place.
"Youzer is a great tool once you take the time to set it up. There's a lot of configuration work involved in adapting it to our needs, and the tool really makes it possible. You can see right away what it can do. The difficulty is having the time to do it."
Tristana
What were your criteria for choosing an IAM solution like Youzer?
Dstny had two main priorities: firstly, to optimize the management of internal tools to facilitate the integration of new arrivals and ensure that employees had all the necessary access to applications as soon as they took up their duties; secondly, to monitor departures and ensure that all accesses were removed.
Dstny wanted a tool:
- that makes their lives easier,
- which centralizes and ensures the reliability of their data,
- and their data hosted in France 🐓
They were delighted to find a French tool with a human-sized, accessible team.
How did the launch of Youzer at Dstny go?
The IT team started small with a self-service connector and an API connector on the old AD system. The HRIS was connected and the observations began: do users actually arrive on Youzer when HR adds them to the HRIS?
Youzer was observed for its ability to perform automatic provisioning.
The tests were conclusive, leading to rapid deployment of the IAM solution.
Dstny has integrated its entire application catalog into Youzer, bearing in mind that they have many tools developed in-house. This represents 83 self-service connectors, which manage accounts on a declarative basis. Automation is not possible, but the application manager has a very clear view of users, their rights and accesses.
The application manager manually manages the creation, modification and suspension of accounts, but they receive alerts to notify them of actions to be taken. These alerts are linked to events or status changes. Youzer has enabled this management and a global view of user accounts for each application.
How has Youzer changed IT account management at Dsnty?
Three French entities joined Dstny. Youzer has made it possible to centralize all the users of these structures. By unifying processes, the HR team now benefits from a single tool to manage the employees of three separate structures, considerably simplifying administrative procedures.
"For HR, it's a real plus. The idea is to centralize so we can say we have a single tool to manage everything in the same place, whatever the entity, whatever the needs behind it."
Tristana
Youzer plays a crucial role in facilitating account verification when employees leave. It alerts the relevant managers and monitors accounts, helping to reinforce overall security.
Not all of Dstny's information has yet been entered into Youzer (due to lack of time), but Youzer allows for greater account security. Dstny relies on Youzer data to export to an application and check all accounts, in order to review accounts by application.
What are your preferred functionalities?
- Application packages
- Connectors, including self-service, which enables any application to be attached to a connector
- Automation workflows
What advantages has Youzer brought to Dsnty?
New arrivals go smoothly, with HR departments relying on Youzer to make sure they don't forget anything during onboarding. Accesses are created before the employee arrives, and there has been a significant improvement from the point of view of teams and managers.
"The merger of the various French companies under the Dstny brand has led to a number of organizational changes and staff departures, underlining the crucial importance of Youzer.
In these periods of intense change, a reliable tool like Youzer, capable of providing precise and relevant alerts, becomes indispensable. Its efficiency saves us precious time. In the future, Youzer is set to play an even more central role within Dstny."
Tristana
Would you recommend Youzer?
"The tool's adaptability is its strong point. You can do a bit of whatever you want with it, limited to the functionalities available (!) but they're pretty broad. Many elements can be parameterized and adapted.
The availability of your teams: it's very pleasant to work with the support team, there's always someone to help us. I've never had the feeling that someone's kindly blowing me off because I'm supposed to know. You've got great teams."
Tristana Viana, Operations Manager
